Tanla Solutions and Zed join forces to maximise operations in India

Zed and Tanla Solutions Ltd., the leading telecommunications software and services provider with worldwide operations, have announced the establishment of a Joint Venture company in India. The Joint Venture established in the form of a limited liability company will focus on the development of mobile products and services for the growing mobile subscribers in India.

Referring to the JV, Javier Pérez Dolset, President and CEO of Zed Worldwide, highlighted the important step for Zed’s world leadership to start operating in India, the second largest market by mobile subscribers with a huge potential. Pérez Dolset commented, “We are both enthusiastic and confident to transfer to India our know-how and expertise in the mobile value added services industry across 54 countries. Joining with a specialist in mobile applications, and technological leader such as Tanla, is great news and absolutely consistent with our expansion strategy”.

Uday Reddy, CMD of Tanla Solutions indicated of the growing promise the VAS market has in India and the need for strategic exploitation of the same. The coming together of two global organizations with distinctive and complementing strengths across marketing and technology is a need of the hour to upgrade the Indian market beyond the traditional voice based service. Uday Reddy also said about the announcement “We feel privileged and motivated to have joined forces with a global leader such as Zed, which has merged as distinct leader in global mobile VAS space”.

Through the joint venture, Zed will offer its more than 10 years experience and marketing reach, while Tanla will provide the technology and platform.

The MVAS market in India is estimated to grow to US$4 billion by 2010, becoming one of the largest in the world. India currently holds around 375 million mobile subscribers, second largest market by subscribers after China, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Feb. 09). Distinct direct to consumer business opportunities are yet to be exploited, including mobile internet services, mobile entertainment, mobile advertising and interactive television verticals.
